"Music is the universal language of mankind."
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The Asia Pacific Youth Music Festival is an annual festival designed to provide an opportunity for school-age students to meet their counterparts from other parts of the world and to encourage the exchange of ideas, customs, and cultures. Learning about other cultures is an essential part of education as it helps create broad-minded students who will be better-equipped for an increasingly connected world.
Music is an effective channel for facilitating this cultural exchange as it breaks down language barriers and helps people of different backgrounds to quickly connect with each other. It is our vision that through the Asia Pacific Youth Music Festival, school music groups from all over the world will have a platform to learn from and collaborate with each other, so that new friendships may be fostered across borders and new bridges formed between cultures.
In 2018, we are pleased to announce that there will be two Australian schools participating in the festival and hosting visiting schools from overseas. If you are an overseas school interested in participating in this exchange opportunity, please email us at: contact@iamusica.org.
We welcome all types of school music groups, from choirs, big bands, concert bands, string orchestras, to full-sized orchestras.
Students currently studying in primary, middle, and high schools are welcome.
* Sample timetable only. Please note the daily schedule will be confirmed once a visiting school has been matched with the local hosting school
If you are interested in participating in this school exchange program and would like to know more, please email us at: contact@iamusica.org.
